What is the Norfolk Person of the Year Award?

In 2013, the NCL honored the first Norfolk Person of the Year.  The recipient of this award is an individual who exemplifies commitment to our community, works diligently to make a significant, positive impact and has dedicated his or her time and efforts to make the town we call home a better place.

How is the Person of the Year Chosen?

The Person of the Year is nominated and voted upon by Norfolk residents during our nomination period.   Once all nominations are received, the NCL Board narrows the nominees down to three finalists.  Voting is then opened to the town.

2015 Winner - Ann Proto, Norfolk Recreation Director - For over 15 years, Ann has served as the Director of the Norfolk Recreation Department.  A familiar face to many, Ann has devoted countless hours to offering programs that enrich the lives of our residents, while doing so with a tremendous sense of pride and dedication.

When is this Individual Recognized?

Recognition of the Norfolk Person of the Year takes place at the Norfolk Community Gala, our largest fundraising event of the year.   The gala takes place every 18 months.

2013 Winner - Reynolds Lee, Lions Soccer Registrar - As the registrar for Lions soccer as well as a coach, Reynolds is encouraging, caring and always towards all who he encounters, especially the kids he coaches.  He is dedicated to his role as registrar and supportive of the coaches and overall and great role model for both youth and adults.
